BEAUTY | Ooops, I Bought 3 Mascaras!

A few days ago I ventured off to Nordstroms with some gal pals. Had a nice lunch at Bistro Verde and then we hit the floor. Two hours later and almost $90 later, I went home with 3 mascaras. Why would I spend that much on mascara? (I have no idea what came over me). However, here is my excuse, Nordstrom was having their buy 2 get 1 free event on ALL mascara. I thought I'd take advantage of this time to try some so called "designer brand name" product.

The 3 brands I purchased: Dior Lash Extension Volume, Lacome Hypnose Star, and Guerlain le 2 de Guerlain mascara. All range in price from $38 to $54. (I have to admit, this is the most I've EVER spent on mascara. I typically stick to drug store brands like Benefit and Cover Girl). Here's what I thought:

Dior - This particular formula and brush is great for volume but not for lash extension. It has a full "bushy" brush. I find most mascaras that have this type of brush very difficult to maneuver around shorter lashes (hence Asian lashes) and it clumped a little. All in all, 3 of of 5, very good for pumping up the volume.

Guerlain - Oh la la, this is some fancy packaging. It has a double brush, one larger and one small. No lash is forgotten. It does not volumize like the Dior one BUT, it's great for lengthening and the smaller micro brush is great for getting into the corners of your eye as well as the lower lashes. with such  fine brush it also really deters from clumping. I give it a 3.5 out of 5 rating.

Lacome - So far, I really like the Lacome Hypnose mascara. The design of the brush (more triangular) is great for volumizing and lengthening. It gets into the shorter inner lashes of the eye and it "fans out" on the outer edges of the eye. Combined with the Guerlain to get into the lower lashes, I think I have a wining combination. I rate this one 4 out of 5.

The final outcome? To be honest, I am not sure if I'd spend this type of money on expensive mascara ever again. In my opinion the winning mascara tube design would be: A double brush design (like Guerlain), with one brush like the Lacome Hypnose and the other micro brush for the the lower lashes. Who's got one?
