Shut Up I Love This

BEAUTY | Pre and Post Pregnancy Beauty Must Haves

I tend to keep my beauty regime fairly simple. I don't wear a lot of makeup and I like being able to get ready in under 45 minutes (or even quicker nowadays). During my pregnancy a few things happened. My skin was glowing, literally I did not get any acne while I was pregnant (yippie skippie ). Obviously, my belly was growing and stretching and my entire body was swelling so I had to pay some extra attention to my skin. As well, my hair seemed more lush and full. Le sigh, the awesomeness of pregnancy.

Post pregnancy, I broke out in a flood of acne around 4 and 5 weeks postpartum. Argh, I'm living my adolescent years all over again. My body is slowly shrinking back to size and as my uterus shrinks, my skin around the stomach is becoming loose. I've also found that my skin overall has become very DRY and even flaky, especially on my face! However, I'm happy to report, that my hair has not changed too much. I've always been very lucky to have a pretty full head of hair (thank goodness).

With all this going on, I found a few new products that I really enjoyed using pre and post pregnancy:

1. Lush Cosmetic Dream Wash - This shower smoothie feels so nice on the skin. It is like whip cream for your body! My skin can be quite sensitive and the mix of ingredients like aloe vera, lavender, rose, tea tree, calamine and chamomile, are great for calming the skin. TIP: Don't be afraid to slather this on generously.

2. Body Oils - To battle dry skin, body oils are great for that added moisture. I used the Soul Sunday Multi-Task oil religiously during my pregnancy. I rubbed this stuff all over my belly and my hips. I also used this in my hair and it takes off eye makeup easily too. It's a great all in one oil and it smells really yummy.

Now, post pregnancy, I am using the Eminence Apricot Body Oil that was gifted to me by a friend. I absolutely love the scent and I continue to use this all over my body with special attention to my belly and c-section scar area.

3. Josie Maran Argan Exfoliating Powder - Around 4 -5 weeks postpartum, I broke out like a teenage girl. I guess it had to do with my hormones going out of whack, so I had to up my exfoliant game. I've always loved dry powders because you can control the consistency. The Josie Maran Argan Exfoliating Powder is gentle and infused with antibacterial and antioxidant powerhouses to brighten, clarify, and soothe skin. Massage onto face with wet hands to do an overall exfoliate, leave on for a few minutes longer and use as a mask, or make a thicker paste-like consistency and use it to spot treat acne and flare ups. When my skin feels on the dryer side, I just add a little bit of the Soul Sunday Oil to the powder mix and then exfoliate.

Hope you give these goodies a try. I'm open to more suggestions! I love trying new things.
