SHOPPING | Ah...Summer, Fashion Must Haves

In my mind summer has just started but as a retailer, fall is just beginning. (Don't hate me for saying this, but I am secretly wanting fall/winter to come faster as my heart leans towards cold weather fashions). As I'm planning a mini getaway to one of our local islands, I'm also dreaming of one day relaxing in Saint Tropez. I had to squeeze in one more summer post before Mr. Sunshine decides to walk away for good. Here are some of my favourite summer fashion must haves:

1. LACC Beauty 5 free nail lacquer - Fashion-forward, sophisticated, and urban-edgy. LACC delivers quality staying power, without the use of harsh chemicals. My pick for summer is "Hot Coral", number 1960, $14 available at Shut Up I Love This.

2. Lem Lem - Supermodel / actress and former World Health Organisation's Goodwill Ambassador for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health, Liya Kebede discovered that traditional weavers in her native country of Ethiopia were losing their jobs due to a decline in local demand for their goods and wanted to do something about it. Recognizing the beauty, quality and historic significance of their work, Liya started Lem Lem in 2007 as a way to inspire economic independence in her native country and to preserve the art of weaving. I love this gorgeous "Adersh Tunic" available at the #HProject at Holt Renfrew, $200.

3. Ancient Greek Sandals - These sandals are handmade and combine traditional cobbling techniques with contemporary design. Love the simpicity and the metal like gold band across the foot. Heel strap is adjustable, $185 availble at Net-A-Porter.

4. I Love Ugly - ILU is a men's brand but I really like their baseball caps. Especially the floral printed ones, $70.

5. Beth Richards Bathing Bikkini - A native of Toronto, Ontario, Beth Richards graduated from the International Academy of Design in Toronto in 1999. Beth launched her debut collection of Quality Modern Swimwear in Spring/Summer 2012 and I am so glad she did. Enough of the cutsy brightly coloured swim wear and give me sexy, contrasting black and white any day.

6. Karen Walker - Just the right amount of funk in these "Helter Skelter" sunglasses. I get weak in the knees for anything tortoise shell, $250 available at Shop Bop.
