TRENDS | Denim on Denim

I know you hear it all the time and it's true, denim is a commodity and it will always have timeless fashion appeal. I probably wear some form of denim 3 to 4 days out of the week. It was a key trend shown on the Spring 2013 runways and a popular choice in street fashion as well. I worked in the denim industry for years and I haven't seen a revival like this since the late 90's.

Designers like Balmain and Chanel sent collections down the runway showing off dark to light shades along with endless styling combinations. Since denim is our most go to peice in our closets, we have to find fresh new innovative ways of wearing them.

Going to the street: Try mixing denim with leather (or pleather) as worn below by a model during Fashion Week. Or go with a denim on denim mix, worn by Russian style icon Miroslava Duma, founder of www.BURO247.ru.

As for myself, I like pairing my chambray shirt with used boyfriend jeans, layered with a white blazer and topped with a statement necklace. This combination is comfortable, classy, casual and chic, all rolled into one.
