Eastern stories and inspired silhouettes where one of the major trends shown on the runways this summer. Luxury brands like Helmut Lang, Prada and Emilio Pucci showcased designs inspired by kimonos, detailed embroidery of cherry blossoms, orchids and birds.

As you can see in the above image, Prada (left) took a structural spin on Japanese style, using the cherry blossoms as an appliqué on an origami inspired tunic along with thong sandals. Pucci (right) took a softer approach with embroidered kimono inspired over coats revealing the traditional wide sleeves and a belted sash. You'll also see examples of the exotic florals and intricate prints on accessories. I love this hand clutch from River Island (below).

Being Chinese, I needed to find a way to sport the trend without being literal. I found a Zara dress with a beautiful crane print in tomato red, which screams the color of the orient. FYI: I'm 5'2 so I hemmed the dress about 2 - 3 inches because it was an awkward length on me and paired it with nude colored heels to give my legs some length!
