I love maxi dresses in the summer and they almost always flatter most bodies. We've been blessed with some wicked hot sunny days here in Vancouver and nothing feels better that a breezy, roomy maxi dress. I picked up a gorgeous dress (on sale btw) from Mavi Jeans with this unique floral-paisley print. I was immediately drawn to this bold print and color combination! Both the turquoise and red are not colors I would usually combine together, but it obviously works. Two days later I found an image on Pinterest of a stunning model in a gown with similar color combinations (see blow). Trend? Maybe? I apologize but there was no information on this image so I don't even know who's dress she's wearing or where the image originated from.

Since Mavi is a jean company founded in Istanbul, I made a quick educated guess that the colors were inspired from this country. My assumptions were right! The beautiful red and turquoise combination is a spin off of traditional Turkish tiles and patterns and are used a lot in the interiors of buildings. It's also use widely in jewellery, pottery and textiles.

Through fashion, I discovered something new! By the way don't ask what I'm doing in the photo below...apparently the wind was working against me here.
