BEAUTY | What I'm Loving This Week

BeautySunny ShumComment

I've had the opportunity to try out some new products (which is always fun). Here's my beauty round up this week:

I recently switched my underarm deodorant to something natural, after reading many negative reports in regards to aluminium (an ingredient found in most commercial antiperspirants ), possibly being a cause for breast cancer. Needless to say, the more natural you go with any of your beauty products, the better. Soapwalla deodorant is an all-natural yet powerful deodorant cream that utilizes superfine vegetable powders, clays, and lavender, peppermint and tea tree essential oils to absorb moisture, inhibit bacteria, and ensure a long-lasting and highly effective experience. It's free from harmful chemicals, petroleum, or aluminum compounds found in commercial antiperspirants and is certified organic. Yes, you have to dip your fingers into the mixture and apply but honestly the texture blends well and the scent is very pleasing. Main image, $14 available at www.EcoDivaBeauty.com

Partly Sunny Clarisonic Opal

I have puffy under-eyes and I think I've inherited this from my mother. I've spent years trying different under eye serums and creams....patting gently under my eyes as directed by all the beauticians and have only gotten mild results. Well, Clarisonic has come out with a really neat little applicator called the Opal that takes applying under eye serum to a whole new level. This palm-sized sonic infusion device, the Clarisonic Opal® Sonic Infuser is specially designed to help build skin's resilience over time and prevent future damage around the eyes. Tapping the skin around your eye at 125 sonic movements per second, the Clarisonic Opal maximizes absorption in a way that's not possible with your finger alone. I've only been using it for a couple weeks but I can sure say that it's like giving my under eyes a mini massage every night before bedtime. Available at www.clarisonic.ca, $215.

Partly Sunny Barr Co Hand Lotion Soap

One of my favourite hand lotions and liquid soaps right now is Barr Co Oatmeal and Shea Butter. It's scent is simple, lovely and it reminds of freshly washed bed sheets. The lotion is more than 98% natural, made with aloe, shea butter, cucumber and colloidal oatmeal. It's vegan and contains no parabens or petrochemicals. The soap is also 98% natural, created with natural plant extracts, soothing botanicals, and oatmeal extract. Best part is, the glass bottles are pretty enough to reuse again and again. Available at Mint Interiors and Chapters.

Partly Sunny Morphe Brushes Make Up

Your make up is as good as your brushes they say. A lot of women don't know that there are different types of make up brushes made of a variety of hairs as well as a range in quality. There are real animal (natural) hair brushes and also synthetic. Super fine synthetic brushes are great for people with sensitive skin who may have allergic reactions to real hair brushes. I've been trying out brushes from Morphe MakeUp Brush Company. They are based out of California and they have an extensive selection of cruelty-free natural, as well a fine synthetic hair bristles at great prices. With every type of brush imaginable, they are sold individually or as sets.
